As an interactive science center, ExplorationWorks Science Center serves more than 40,000 guests each year. We are able to extend this experience to private events when the Science Center is not open to the public. Please note that such activities may not interfere with the normal public operation of the facility and are subject to the policies and procedures below.

When you host an event at ExplorationWorks, you will also be contributing to the ExplorationWorks mission to inspire a lifelong interest in science, math, engineering and technology. As a non-profit organization, ExplorationWorks relies on evening admissions and events staged in the midst of interesting science exhibitions to help sustain our many educational, interactive and innovative programs.

General Event Information
Events at ExplorationWorks must be social, cultural, recreational, corporate, educational or personal in nature. ExplorationWorks may not be used for political events or political rallies, without specific approval of ExplorationWorks Executive Director. No product promotion is allowed. We are able to reserve a variety of spaces to meet your needs, which must be reserved in advance. Unless outdoor space is reserved in advance, reserving an interior space for an event does not include any exterior areas.
ExplorationWorks reserves the right to refuse rental to individuals, organizations or events that discriminate because of an individual’s race, color, religion, origin, ancestry, age, marital status, physical or mental handicap, military status, sexual orientation, or in any other way that would constitute a violation of human rights. ExplorationWorks declines to host religious events and reserves the right to refuse rental to individuals, organizations or events that promote a view that is contradictory to ExplorationWorks mission or stance on science.
Any organization seeking to use ExplorationWorks facilities for fundraising must qualify as a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c)(3) or other relevant sections of the Internal Revenue Code. A copy of the Internal Revenue determination letter must be provided to ExplorationWorks prior to executing the Facility Rental Agreement. The sponsoring organization must appear on the Agreement and provide a certificate of insurance in its name.
Invitations and Printed Materials
Invitations for rental events may not use the name of ExplorationWorks except as the designated location of the event.
A client may not use the name, logo or likeness of ExplorationWorks to promote any event. It is permissible to include an informational brochure or other information published by ExplorationWorks for the purpose of describing the facilities and exhibits.
The content of all printed materials relating to the event must be submitted to the Facility Rental staff for review and approval before being printed. Any violation may result in cancellation of the event. Please allow three weeks prior to your design deadline to obtain approval for printed material copy by our Facility Rental staff.
Photographs taken in designated areas in ExplorationWorks for personal use are permitted, although photos may be restricted in certain exhibits. All photographs that will be submitted for publication must be approved by the ExplorationWorks Facility Rental staff before publication or commitment to publication.
Press conferences may not be held in ExplorationWorks without the prior written approval of ExplorationWorks Executive Director. Use of ExplorationWorks name or likeness to promote, advertise or sell tickets to an event (other than as the location of the event) is prohibited.
General Facility Information
ExplorationWorks normal public hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and Monday from 2:30 to 5 pm during the school year and from 10 am to 5 pm June through August. The entire facility is closed on Memorial, Labor, Thanksgiving and Christmas days. Evening events may start no earlier than one hour after closing and may end as late as 11 pm. Extra charges will be assessed if the event exceeds the rental time specified in the written contract.
ExplorationWorks has wheelchair-accessible entrances, elevators and restrooms. Children must remain under the direct supervision of an adult at all times while on ExplorationWorks property, including exhibit areas. During normal public ExplorationWorks hours, it is the responsibility of the client to maintain a noise level respectful of ExplorationWorks guests.
ExplorationWorks is a tobacco free environment, including its outside garden areas.
