Explore School
Are you a home school parent looking to engage your students in rigorous, hands-on science learning experiences?
Consider Explore School, a program partnership between ExplorationWorks Science Center and Helena Public Schools for home school students in grades 1st-8th. Classes take place at ExplorationWorks. Students enroll with HPS at 25% of full-time enrollment and attend science classes at ExplorationWorks. The hands-on learning opportunities students receive meet Montana science standards. Explore School provides educational choice and an alternative way to meet the needs of Helena kids and families, providing home school families in the Helena area access to rich, hands-on, inquiry-based science experiences. Enrich and compliment science content being taught in your home at no cost to your family. Students meet one day a week from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for the duration of the academic year.
There are currently wait lists for all Explore School classes. To be placed on the wait list, please fill out this online waitlist form.
Once your child is offered a spot in the Explore School program, please fill out the forms below and email them to meganc@explorationworks.org. You must also provide proof of current residence: rental agreement, tax statement and/or utility bill, as well as a copy of your child’s birth certificate along with their most recent immunization records. If you qualify for a religious exemption, please print and complete the Religious Exemption form.
For parents/guardians wishing to register a their children in Explore School, but who reside outside of the school district boundaries, please fill out the Out-of-District Transfer Request AND the Student Attendance Agreement form, and contact Megan Cutter at meganc@explorationworks.org.
